Hola, I’m Jess! I grew up in Chicago, IL and I am currently living in the heat of Houston, TX. Ever since I was a little girl, I have been described as a social butterfly. Meeting new people and hearing their stories is one of my favorite things. We all have something to offer and our voice is a catalyst to connect with others. My passion is to use my own voice to help others see how the world truly needs our stories to create empathy and genuine understanding. This passion has evolved into a professional career as a writer, copy editor, proofreader, writing coach, and content creator. Similar to the Monarch butterfly, I am from the United States but my ethnic roots are from Mexico. My identity in this world is caught teetering on the hyphen between two cultures of Mexican - American. For this reason, I am thankful that my identity is first as a Christ follower and everything else is second. My favorite topics to write and read about are on cultural identity, faith and justice, authentic representation, fiction and non-fiction storytelling, motherhood and parenting, and uplifting the voices of marginalized communities.
